A web portal and database system to support DRM capacity building through the provision of relevant data and information management.
Objectives: The report for this project for 2007 - 2009 forms a critical part of the monitoring and progress review processes for the Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA) and Pacific Disaster Risk Reduction and Disaster Management Framework for Action (Regional Framework). The report is intended to compile information for the region regarding the extent of implementation of DRM measures and activities at the regional and national levels across all Pacific countries, for submission to the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in 2009._x000D_
Objectives: In light however of the need to ensure an improved effort to address disaster risk reduction, the Pacific Islands Applied Geoscience Commission (SOPAC) working with other partner organisations have advocated quite extensively for the involvement of the upper echelon within the various Public Service jurisdictions in the Pacific in terms of ensuring that risk considerations are given a greater prominence in planning and budgeting systems within Government and at each level within the national economy. _x000D_
Objectives: The Island Climate Update (ICU) is a regional climate bulletin that covers the South Pacific.
