The Ministry of Economy (MOE) has signed a USD 1.4 million grant with the UN Environment Program (UNEP) and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) to implement a 3-year Capacity-building Initiative for Transparency (CBIT) project funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
Project aim: Strengthen capacity to ensure transparency of action implemented and support received to implement Fiji’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDCs) and Low Emission Development Strategy (LEDS).

The 3-year project will further assist in implementing the Climate Change Act 2021 and will build upon the climate actions committed by the Fijian Government.
An inception workshop is being organised by, MOE, GGGI and UNEP on the 9th August 2022 at Holiday Inn, Suva. The inception workshop aims to bring relevant stakeholders together to share information about the project discuss timelines and outcomes.
A successful completion of the CBIT project will support the Fijian Government to track greenhouse gas emissions with reference to its NDC targets and credibility to strategically plan new climate action initiatives.
