Scope of Work- This research project involves conducting a comprehensive literature review of regional and national research relevant to Fijian livestock greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, emissions factors, emissions calculations and inventory compilation. The student researcher will review scientific literature, reports, and other relevant documents related to livestock emissions in Fiji and similar regional contexts. They will identify and summarize existing emission factors and methodologies applicable to Fiji’s agricultural sector, analyze gaps in current knowledge and data to inform future research projects, and compile information on best practices for measuring and estimating livestock emissions in similar climatic and agricultural conditions. The researcher will prepare a manuscript based on the literature review findings and may contribute to the submission of findings to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Emission Factor Database. This work will support the development of an IPCC Tier 2 GHG Inventory for enteric fermentation from beef cattle and goats, and for swine and poultry manure management, as part of the broader GHG Inventory Capability Building Programme for the Agricultural Sector in Fiji.
Duration- This research project is for a period of 3 months (65 working days) full-time, starting from January 2024.
Application Process- Interested students are invited to submit their Expression of Interest (EOI) by 4 pm (Fiji Time), 24 January, 2025.
