Transparency is more than data — it’s a commitment to accountability and collective progress,” said Ms. Senivasa Waqairamasi, Director of Climate Change at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC), as she opened the national inception workshop in Suva.
The workshop brought together representatives from government, the private sector, academia, and development partners to strengthen coordination in climate data collection, reporting, and evidence-based policy development.
Ms. Waqairamasi highlighted that Fiji’s Biennial Transparency Report and National Communication go beyond meeting international obligations — they embody Fiji’s integrity and leadership in global climate accountability.
She noted that MECC is building a stronger, evidence-based system to track and report climate actions, reinforcing trust and shared responsibility in the country’s transition to a resilient, low-emission future.
The Ministry acknowledged the strong participation of all partners and reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to transparency, integrity, and inclusive climate progress.
