The Drua Incubator (‘DI’) is a specialized sub-unit within the Climate Change Division, which was established during Fiji’s reign as COP23 Presidency.
The DI collaborates with a range of partners to progress innovative and transformative financing options to support Fiji’s resilient development priorities. The partners include World Resources Institute, United Nations Development Program, United Nations Capital Development Fund, Pollination Group, The Global NDC Partnership, the Carbon Markets Institute, and the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat.
The Drua Incubator has so far received financial support from the Government of Luxembourg to support the institutionalisation of the incubator as a tool for leveraging financial innovation and private sector engagement to address climate change challenges in Fiji and the Pacific. Through the funding, the DI has been able to work in partnership with the United Nations Capital Development Fund in developing and piloting a low-cost parametric insurance product to protect the livelihoods of vulnerable communities in Fiji.
