About
Purpose and Scope
This repository provides public online access to Fiji’s climate-related projects and programs. It aims to establish a robust, streamlined foundation of high-quality climate project information sourced from diverse stakeholders—enhancing transparency, coordination, and knowledge sharing.
It supports Fiji’s Adaptation Registry as outlined in Section 73 of the Climate Change Act (2021), which includes both adaptation and cross-cutting projects that address adaptation and mitigation. It also encompasses mitigation and emission reduction projects aligned with the Fijian Registry, as stated in Section 61 of the Act.
Adaptation Registry
The Adaptation Registry is co-designed with key stakeholders and is intended to evolve over time. The current version prioritizes access to project information, with future updates planned to enhance collaboration, monitoring, and evaluation. Regular updates will be supported by ongoing stakeholder contributions.
“An ‘adaptation project’ means a project in Fiji that contributes towards adaptation objectives in this Act and the National Adaptation Plan.” — Climate Change Act, 2021
Objectives
The Adaptation Registry serves three core objectives:
- Inform the public and stakeholders about adaptation projects that increase resilience for vulnerable communities and how the Government is taking progressive steps towards the realisation of a climate change resilient Fiji.
- Provide a knowledge platform for collaboration and services that form a crucial enabling environment for the effective implementation and achievement of the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) targets across sectors.
- Monitor and evaluate (M&E) the impact of adaptation actions.
Target Audiences
The Registry is designed for a broad range of users such as:
- Fiji Government agencies, including the Department of Climate Change (DoCC)
- Civil society organizations (CSOs) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
- Development partners
- Donors and investors.
