The Ministry of Economy (MoE) recognizes that promoting equity and inclusion is both a moral imperative and an economic necessity. As noted in the Gender Equity and Social Inclusion Assessment (GAP), that underpins this policy (see Annex II), existing gaps in the economic and political participation of women at all levels, the under-involvement of people with disabilities (PWD), and high levels of domestic violence continue to constrain the overall development of the nation. This policy formalizes MoE’s existing commitment to gender equity and social inclusion in line with international and national obligations of the Government of Fiji (GoF). This Policy is underpinned by six guiding principles that reflect the core values of the GoF and honor international and regional commitments to gender equality and social inclusion. The Goal of this Policy is to ensure that: Gender equity and social inclusion will be fully mainstreamed (integrated) in all Ministry of Economy plans, budgets, processes and systems, including projects administered by the Ministry and its delivery partners, in line with Fiji’s international, regional and national GESI commitments.
